La Mirande

Period town house build on the remains of a medieval cardinal's palace, with superb 18th century interiors throughout, antique furniture and old master paintings. Almost all bedrooms have a romantic view on a quiet cobbled square or the lavish garden with the Popes' Palace in the background. Until 1990 when turned into a hotel, it was house to one of the leading families of Avignon one of them major of Avignon in the second half of the 19th century and intimate friend of the emperor Napoleon III. Sharing a quite cobbled square with the world famous Popes Palace in the very heart of the walled city of Avignon.
